Introduction

In this lesson, we will configure inter-area and external route summarization in OSPF. Summarization reduces the size of the routing table, which improves network efficiency and performance by minimizing the number of routes that routers must manage.

In the previous lessons, we established a network topology that includes routers R1, R2, R3, R4, and R7. For this lesson, we will focus on R1 and R2 for external and inter-area summarization, respectively.
