BGP MED (Multi-Exit Discriminator)

Lesson 2 of 7

Introduction

In this lesson, we will configure the Multi-Exit Discriminator (MED) in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) to influence the path selection for incoming traffic from neighboring Autonomous Systems (ASes). By setting a lower MED value, we can suggest preferred entry points into our network, which is crucial for optimizing traffic flow and ensuring efficient routing.

Quick Recap

In the previous lesson, we established a basic BGP configuration between our routers. For this lesson, we will focus on configuring MED on R1 and R2, which are connected to different ASes. The relevant IP addresses and interfaces remain the same as in the previous lesson.
